THE DECARBONISED DATA CENTRE PEOPLE.

Sustainability is core to our business proposition and strategy.

We are the only Data Centre company that recaptures the heat compute generates and recycles it for social good, for free.

Our cooling technology is inherently energy efficient, water efficient & decarbonising.

We deploy our technology into existing locations & brownfield sites rather than exacerbating the negative impacts to biodiversity that comes with greenfield development.

The impact of our business

We use our four stage approach to manage our emissions across Scope 1, 2 and 3.

RECOGNISE.

To paraphrase Peter Drucker, you cannot manage – and improve – what you don’t measure. So we start there.

Our estate – all the data centres and networks – are monitored for energy consumption with heat meters and smart PDUs. This enables us to recognise the impact of workloads, including our clients.

We work with Greenly to accurately measure and account for our Scope 1, 2 and 3 carbon emissions.

Our emissions equated to 204 tonnes/CO2e in 2023.

ESG

REDUCE.

The combination of our design, implementation and management of resources, from energy to cooling to hardware selections ensures that we reduce the impact of computing wherever possible.

For example, we reduce embodied carbon in our estate through when we deploy our data centres within the fabric of the existing built environment, minimising new material usage and reducing Scope 2 emissions for our hosts

EFFICIENCY

The improved energy efficiency of Deep Green units reduce the usage of electricity, lowering our Scope 3 emissions.

AVOIDANCE

The heat provided to Deep Green host sites replace fossil fuel heating systems which directly reduces carbon emissions. These are informally known as negative Scope 4 emissions.

REPORT.

We are committed to transparency and accountability in measuring and reporting our ESG behaviours and performance.

  • We monitor the carbon impact of our business, from Scope 1 to 3, using proprietary data managed in Greenly.
  • We report our impacts against the EU taxonomy.

We can also report directly to you, calculating the carbon emission impact of your workloads.

REMOVE.

Where it is impossible or impractical to reduce carbon, we invest in removals, via our membership of the The Pond Foundation, at $120/tonne CO2-equivalent. We can extend our removals programme to your colo environment, when it’s hosted in a Deep Green Data Centre.

THE HEAT A SWIMMING POOL WITH A DATA CENTRE PEOPLE.

SOCIAL GOOD.

By giving free heat to the local communities who host our edge data centres, we build heat networks everyone can benefit from.

Our ambition is to heat 1500 public swimming pools with recaptured heat from 300MW of compute, within 5 years.

“At a time when so many swimming pools are struggling with massively increased energy bills, it’s great to see pools embracing innovative solutions like this which have the potential to support facilities to operate more sustainably, both environmentally and economically.”
